Did I say something Wrong????

I always try to be respectful toward my elders but sometimes I forget that they are human. Today I had an encounter with one of my neighbors that didnt go well in my eyes. I went over to my neighbors house because I wanted to give her a job package with brochures that was given to me at a job seminar my sister cunducted last week. It contained information on career opportunities for individuals who didnt earn their diploma/GED and persons with felonies and misdemeanors. My elderly neighbors house is littered with crackheads, dropouts, and gangstas. Unfortunately those people are mostly her children and/or grandchildren. So I proceeded to talk to her about passing the information to her grandchildren. To my surprise , she said to me "oh I dont think they will be interested in that" and reached to give it back to me. I was thinking in my mind " well damn , you dont even wanna tell them about it". So I told her that all they needed was a GED or diploma. She said she doesnt think any of em got their diplomas. Again I'm thinking "damn". Lastly I gave her a brochure about a company that was hiring men for the Gulf Oil Clean-Up Project. I told her that they would be stationed in Louisiana or Mississippi for 4-8 months but it pays great and they will provided with room and board. She said "Nah thats too long for them to be away". So while I wanted to say, lady give my damn papers back, I instead said " I think they have some parenting courses too". She got mad and told me to leave and never return.. Now who am I gonna get to replace my brakes for $10 cause I'm sure she told her crackheaded son what happened???
